Orrison- Puente La Reina
Wow it's already been a few days since I've blogged. Between poor internet service, exhaustion, and all the walking and talking (HA), it's been hard to find time to write! So far, the trip has been really amazing. A lot of hard work, but many rewards.
First sunset of the trip. View over Pamplona looking into the Pyrenees . Pamplona was a great town to stay in--so much fun and so beautiful.
Hiked above Pamplona to Alto del Perdon (an iconic statue along the Camino--I need to research more about it's origin)
Feeling fortunate--feeling happy! Thanks for reading.
One of the best parts has been the people we have met! I can't even name all the counties of the people we've met. It's truly a global experience- and everyone has been so interesting (and nice:)
When I last left off we were almost ready to eat a group dinner at Orrison. Usually dinners don't involve everyone in your alburgue, but this was a special event since it was our first night on the Camino. The food was fantastic--a traditional Basque meal. (We are in the Basque region of Spain which has been ...interesting). Anyway, the food was delicious, but the fellow pilgrims we met were even better. So many cool people with so many different and interesting reasons for doing the Camino.
It's been fun because we continue to often see and run into our "Orrison crew" It's surprising how even though everyone walks at their own pace, it's still so common to see friends you've made along the way. There are lots of cute little towns you pass through and it's fun to seem to "know" someone everywhere you go through. I could blab on and on, but bottomline-the people have made this trip so fascinating.
Other than that, we are finally getting into a routine. Figuring out the best methods of maximizing our pack space (which, pack size is an interesting topic I'll have to talk about later), getting used to the early wake up times (6am lights on is jarring), and learning that leaving in the morning darkness is the best way to beat the Spanish afternoon sun. (Which we didn't do-- and paid for it).
Mom killing it up the Pyrenees! Incredible mountains and views.
View from our alburgue in Zubiri, Spain. (A tiny Spanish village where we made ourselves a great salad dinner and enjoyed it on the alburgue's amazing patio/river view)

Ah! All so cool, Grace! So excited for you!
